THE FIGHTERS

GREG PAGE

DALE CROWE

Greg Page burst onto the boxing scene in Louisville, KY at the age of 12, following a long family lineage of boxers, and quickly rose up in the amateur ranks.

Frequently compared to Muhammad Ali, Page turned pro and went on to become the USBA heavyweight champion, a title he held from February 11th, 1980 to August 31st, 1984. That same year, Page defeated Gerrie Coetzee in South Africa, becoming the WBA heavyweight champion. He lost the title a few months later and finished out his professional career of 58 (48 KOs)-17-1.

Page  never recovered from the injuries sustained during his fight with Dale Crowe. He died on April 27, 2009.

After proving to be a fierce competitor on the Toughman circuit, Dale Crowe was working his way up the pro boxing ranks with a record of 22-4 when he fought former world heavyweight champion Greg Page on March 9, 2001 at Peel's Palace in Erlanger, Kentucky.

Never imagining that a standard ten round fight would irrevocably alter his life, Dale found himself consumed by guilt and traveling down a dark road of self-destruction. His involvement with drugs and alcohol culminated in a terrible crime for which he is currently serving a twenty year sentence in federal prison.
